Students from Peñalolén Explore Technology and Health with iHEALTH
On Wednesday, October 16, the Instituto Milenio iHEALTH took part in the II Scientific Fair at Liceo Antonio Hermida Fabres in Peñalolén. The event, organized to "promote critical thinking and interest in careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM)", offered students from all grade levels the chance to engage with these fields through interactive activities and immersive experiences.
Invited by the InES Gender Project at UTEM, iHEALTH's stand featured Francisco Hernández, an undergraduate student, and Tomás Banduc, an engineer at the institute. They presented two activities that captivated students, teachers, and staff alike.
The institute showcased a game where a dinosaur character could be controlled through electrodes detecting electrical activity in the arm when making a fist. Additionally, students participated in a virtual reality experience to explore human anatomy at scale. Both activities provided students with hands-on learning about the intersection between technology and health.
These initiatives aim not only to inform but also to inspire early interest in STEM careers. By participating in events like these, iHEALTH reaffirms its commitment to scientific education and the development of future professionals who can continue advancing technological and research applications for health.
