iHEALTH researchers participates in the Annual Conference of the Society of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (SCMR)

Claudia Prieto, Director of the iHEALTH Millennium Institute, together with René Botnar, Principal Investigator, Marie González, Carlos Castillo and Matías Paredes, Young Researchers, were part of several of the activities of the day, which lasted from the 24th to January 27.

The Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (SCMR) Annual Conference was recently held in London, attended by several members of iHEALTH. The organization brings together physicians, scientists and medical technologists from around the world who work in the field of cardiovascular magnetic resonance through innovation, education, networking, research and clinical excellence.

During the 4 days of activities within the framework of the meeting, the center's researchers had the opportunity to present the latest results of their work, both in poster format and in oral presentation.

Carlos Castillo, PhD student in Biological and Medical Engineering at UC and young researcher at the center, had a notable participation in the event. In addition to presenting at the initial poster session, he was awarded the “2024 Early Career − Basic Science Award Winner” for his oral presentation titled “Simultaneous Inav-based 3D Whole-heart Bright-blood and Black-blood Imaging at 0.55 T.”

In the first round of presentations on “Machine Learning and AI Technical Developments”, young researcher Marie González participated with her work “Deep Learning-based Super Resolution for 3D Whole-heart Coronary MR Angiography”. On the other hand, Matías Paredes, also a young researcher on the team, was part of the Pitch Session presenting orally and on a poster “Simultaneous Contrast-free 3D Aortic Lumen and Vessel Wall Imaging at 0.55T”.

Claudia Prieto, Director of iHEALTH, presented at the workshop “Software Tools and Reconstruction Strategies: Synergies between Low and High Fields” with the talk titled “The Role of Quantitative Imaging at Low and High Field”, in addition to moderating the Early presentations Career Award − Basic Science.

Principal investigator René Botnar participated in the launch of 3D WholeHeart Pro, software for obtaining 3D images of the heart by MR that, together with Claudia Prieto, they developed together with Siemens Healthcare, who also participated in the event.

Next year, the SCMR annual conference will be held between January 29 and February 1 in Washington D.C., United States, where members of the iHEALTH team are again expected to participate.
