Four iHEALTH Researchers Recognized Among the Top 2% Most Cited Scientists Globally

The director of iHEALTH, Dr. Claudia Prieto, and the principal investigators of the institute, Dr. Domingo Mery, Dr. Pablo Estévez, and Dr. René Botnar, have been included in the prestigious global ranking of scientific impact created by Stanford and Elsevier, based on Scopus data. The list is compiled by considering the impact of scientists in their respective fields, measured by the number of citations their work has generated within the academic community.

The ranking, which lists the most cited researchers in the world, evaluates both career-long impact and impact over a single recent year. Scientists are selected from more than 100,000 Scopus profiles, based on a c-score, a composite indicator that not only considers the number of citations but also factors such as author position in publications and co-authorship.

This international recognition highlights the work of iHEALTH researchers, whose studies have significantly contributed to advancing critical areas such as artificial intelligence applied to health, biomedical engineering, and medical imaging. Their publications have been widely cited by other scientists, reflecting the relevance and quality of their contributions to the global scientific community.

In addition, senior researchers from the institute, Dr. Catterina Ferreccio and Dr. Marco Arrese, both professors at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, were also included in the ranking.

The Elsevier ranking has become an international benchmark for measuring the impact of scientists globally, using objective and standardized data. The results of this ranking are based on an exhaustive analysis of citations generated by published articles and are updated annually to reflect changes in the academic landscape.

With this recognition, iHEALTH researchers strengthen their commitment to scientific excellence, providing new solutions and knowledge that directly impact the health and well-being of people in Chile and around the world.
