Dr. Steren Chabert, Professor at Universidad de Valparaíso and Principal Investigator at iHEALTH, recognized at Inspira Santiago 2025

In an emotional ceremony held this July 10 at the Telefónica Building in Santiago, Dr. Steren Chabert was honored as one of the 36 women who are transforming engineering from academia, during the event Inspira Santiago 2025, organized as the closing milestone of the national initiative El Viaje de Ser Ingenieras (“The Journey of Being Women Engineers”).

The event brought together female academics, university authorities, and representatives from companies and organizations committed to gender equity in STEM, celebrating the contributions of women leaders who are opening new paths in Chilean engineering. In this context, Dr. ChabertFull Professor at the School of Biomedical Engineering at Universidad de Valparaíso and Principal Investigator at the Millennium Institute iHEALTH— was recognized for her outstanding career in medical imaging, the development of clinical solutions, and the evaluation of biomedical technologies.

She received the award accompanied by the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Universidad de Valparaíso, who also attended the event. This recognition follows a symbolic tribute in which Metro de Santiago temporarily renamed Rodrigo de Araya station in her honor, as part of the same initiative.

"Con paciencia, mostrando que una sabe hacer bien las cosas y trabajando en equipo, se sale bien adelante" (“With patience, by showing that you can do things well and by working as a team, you move forward”), Dr. Chabert said in her profile published by the initiative—an expression of the collaborative spirit that has marked her scientific and academic path.

From iHEALTH, we celebrate this important recognition, which not only honors the work of one of our leading researchers but also helps highlight the transformative role of women in Chilean engineering.
