Claudia Prieto will give one of the main talks at the SIPAIM 2022 International Conference

The SIPAIM 2022 International Conference will take place from November 9 to 11 in Valparaíso and will include the participation of researchers and students from the iHEALTH Millennium Institute.

The 18th version of the International Symposium on Medical Information Processing and Analysis (SIPAIM) will bring together researchers from Latin America and the world in our country to communicate their results, developments and research experiences, around the field of medical images, technologies and associated applications. The event will be aimed at researchers, students and professionals from a wide range of disciplines, including engineering, physics, mathematics, computer science, biology and medicine.

In the instance, our director Claudia Prieto, will be in charge of giving one of the main talks on Friday, November 11 at 10:15 a.m., where she will present on the subject “Integral Cardiac Magnetic Resonance: from the physics of magnetic resonance to Artificial Intelligence”. “The talk will address the benefits and challenges of cardiac MRI imaging, as well as various developments iHEALTH researchers have made to move toward more effective, accessible and affordable cardiac MRI; including easy-to-use multiparametric quantitative cardiac MRI and the opportunities offered by new, lower-field, lower-cost MRI equipment for MRI-based diagnosis of cardiovascular disease,” added Dr. Prieto.

In addition to participating in the conference, iHEALTH will give two mini-courses in Santiago on November 8. These will be taught by iHEALTH researchers and will cover the topics of “Physically-based Artificial Intelligence for Medical Applications” and “Visual and Linguistic Models for Medical Data Tasks”.

The symposium is organized annually by the International Society for the Processing and Analysis of Medical Information (SIPAIM), in collaboration with local organizers. SIPAIM is a non-profit scientific civil society that aims to promote and encourage research in biomedical engineering throughout Latin America, and organizes the conference annually. “It is carried out in different Latin American countries, and it is the first time that it is carried out in Chile. It also has international participants from other continents. Because large international conferences are usually held in Europe, the United States and Asia, our students have few opportunities to present their research work and share experiences with international students and researchers, a gap that SIPAIM seeks to bridge” added Pamela Guevara, Academic of the University of Concepción and organizer of the event in our country.

Registration for the event is through the official SIPAIM website (https://sipaim.org/), where you can also learn more about the program and the exhibitors who will participate in the meeting.
